| Activating Your Service |
You may insert the Colombia prepaid SIM card into your GSM cell phone prior to your departure to ensure that the handset is functioning properly. You will not be able to Start Calling or follow any further instructions until you arrive in Colombia.
This service requires registration BEFORE YOU TRAVEL. You will need to provide your invoice number, ICCID number, full name and passport number. Please consult our User Guide for further details.
- Travel to Colombia
- Be sure that the battery is adequately charged
- Insert the Colombia SIM chip into the cellular phone*
- Turn on your phone
- Start calling**
*You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized Colombia SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the Colombia SIM card into your international cell phone with the gold contacts of the Colombia SIM card facing the metal contacts of your international cellular phone.
**When calling overseas from the United States to your Colombia cellular phone number callers will need to dial 011 followed by the country code 57 and then your Colombia cell phone number. To call abroad from your Colombia cell phone simply dial 00444 followed by the country code, area code and phone number. For example, to call the USA you would dial 0044412133375555.
Customer service for your Colombia prepaid SIM card (Comcel) is available 24 hours a day by dialing *611 at any time from your Colombia cellular phone.

| Adding Airtime |
Your prepaid Colombia SIM card (Comcel) comes with an initial starter airtime credit of COP 5,000 (approx. US$2.95). You can top-up your prepaid Colombia SIM card by purchasing a top-up card (airtime vouchers), also called "Tarjeta Amigo", not another SIM card. These airtime vouchers are available from Telestial and locally in Colombia at local tabac shops, convenience stores, Comcel shops and authorized dealers. Comcel (Tarjeta Amigo) airtime vouchers are available in several denominations:
- COP 10,000 (approx. US$5.87) - Valid for 30 days after loading
- COP 20,000 (approx. US$11.75) - Valid for 30 days after loading
- COP 30,000 (approx. US$17.62) - Valid for 60 days after loading
- COP 50,000 (approx. US$29.36) - Valid for 60 days after loading
- COP 100,000 (approx. US$58.73) - Valid for 60 days after loading

| Service Life |
The initial credit of COP 5,000 expires 30 days after activation. The activation date is usually 24-72 hours after the date of purchase from Telestial. The service life of your Colombia SIM card (Comcel) is extended every time you load an airtime voucher, please refer to the section above to check the number of days the service life is extended.
If you do not use your Colombia SIM card in 2 months (no incoming / outgoing calls) your service will automatically be terminated which means you will need to purchase another SIM card and a new number will be provisioned. |
