 Activating Your Service

Your Egypt service will provide you with an Egypt cellular phone number, which can be found printed on the white sticker on the back of your SIM card package and begins with 018.


  • Travel to Egypt
  • Be sure that the battery is adequately charged
  • Insert the Egypt SIM chip into the cellular phone*
  • Turn on your phone
  • Enter the PIN code (defaulted to 1234)^
  • Dial 445 and follow the voice prompts to activate your service
  • Start calling**

Customer service for your Egypt Alo prepaid SIM card is available 24 hours a day by dialing 110 at any time from your Egypt cellular phone.

For emergencies while using your local Egypt GSM SIM card in Egypt please dial 112 from your cell phone.

*You need to snap out the thumbnail sized Egypt SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the Egypt SIM card into your international cell phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your international cellular phone.

^Your phone will prompt you for a 4 digit PIN code (defaulted to 1234). The PUK included is only required to unblock your phone if you enter in a PIN code incorrectly 3 times. Follow your cell phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone.

**When calling overseas from the United States to your Egypt cellular phone, callers will need to dial 011 followed by the country code 20 and then your Egypt cell phone number omitting the leading 0 (zero). To call abroad from your Egypt cell phone simply dial 00 followed by the country code and phone number. To call Telestial from your Egypt cell phone you would dial 0018582742686
 Airtime Rates

Domestic Calls

Domestic rates are EGP 0.75 (US$0.13) per minute for outgoing calls within Egypt using the prepaid ALO Egypt SIM card. All incoming calls on your Egypt cell phone, regardless of where they originate, are FREE.

SMS messages are charged at EGP 0.50 (US$0.09) per message.

International Calls

Making international calls from your world cell phone has never been easier than with your prepaid Egypt SIM card. All rates are per minute for international outgoing calls from an Egypt prepaid SIM card made within Egypt. When making international calls you will be charged EGP .75 in addition to the standard international call charge for a certain destination:

Note that signing up with the Telestial Return Call Service can significantly reduce the cost of international calls.

Roaming Calls (calls placed when traveling outside of the country)

 Adding Airtime

Your SIM card includes EGP 2 (approx. US$0.50) starter airtime credit preloaded. Additional credit is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers, also called reload codes, not another SIM card, in Egypt. Airtime vouchers are available locally throughout Egypt at most convenience stores, Mobinil authorized dealers and distributors. Airtime vouchers are available in the following EGP denominations: 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300. Airtime vouchers are also available from Telestial.


To recharge your Egypt service, simply follow the instructions below.


  • Purchase an ALO recharge card
  • Scratch off the protective layer to reveal your recharge voucher code
  • Dial 444 and follow the voice prompts
  • Enter your 14-digit recharge number

Remember: Do not purchase another SIM card when your airtime credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher! Your incoming calls are always free even when you run out of airtime.

 Service Life

All ALO recharge cards will give you a validity period of 1 month and a grace period of 5 days with exception of the LE5 recharge card, which will give you a validity period of 7 days and a grace period of 1 day.

As long as you recharge your account within either the validity or grace period your balance will be accumulated.

Should you fail to recharge within this time, your mobile service will become irrevocably invalid.
