About the Kon Tikipromotion

The famed "Kon-Tiki" expedition of 1947 was led by Thor Heyerdahl, one of the most beloved Norwegians of all time. Ironically, most of Thor's expeditions took place thousands of miles from his artic origins. Take the "Kon-Tiki" for example, which started in Peru and ended in the Tuamotus archipelago (translate: warm and tropical Polynesia).

In fact, Heyerdahl had lived in the wonderfully tropical Marquesas (made famous or at least known by the reality show, Survivor) for a good ten years before his Kon-Tiki expedition. It was during this time that Thor saw that plant life, the winds and currents as well as traditional history might indicate that the Polynesians could have come from South America.

And so the Kon-Tiki expedition (named after Thor and crew's raft) was born. The balsa wood raft Kon-Tiki was built as a copy of a prehistoric South American vessel. Heyerdahl and his crew of six sailed for 4300 miles over 101 days before finally ending up on Raroia in the Tuamotus archipelago. Talk about a drift of faith!

Heyerdahl's success proved his theory and placed him on the map as a social scientist and explorer. The rest, as they say, is history.

If your travels call for Norway and beyond, bring a coat because it's usually a bit chillier in Noway than in Polynesia. Don't forget to bring your Norway SIM chip and international cell phone because like Polynesia, the people of Norway are friendly to locals and travelers alike!

No contract or monthly fees so how do I buy more airtime?

Your Norway cell phone service is all prepaid so you only buy airtime as you need it. Airtime vouchers are available locally throughout Norway at local convenience stores. Click the 'View Details' link under the included SIM card(s) to learn more about adding airtime.

Why rent or roam when you can own?

In the past your only options were expensive: to pay over $1/minute for a cell phone rental or more expensive: pay international roaming surcharges to your local home wireless provider. With Telestial's Kon Tiki promotion, you can now avoid those exorbitant rental and per minute charges often associated with a cell phone rental.

Here, there and almost everywhere!

Don't forget that the cell phone included with your Kon Tiki promo is capable of working in over 170 countries and can be used with any of our Local SIM cards or Roaming SIM cards!

All Special Promotions are valid until May 31, 2011
