About the Shalom promotion
Shalom may mean hello, goodbye and peace (and who wouldn't wish for peace in the Middle East), but the Dead Sea means rest and relaxation. Scientists still puzzle over the geological factors that created the remarkable body of water known as the Dead Sea, which lies further beneath sea level than any other spot on earth. For visitors, there is no mystery. This extremely dense and saline sea, which has a far greater concentration of minerals than any of the oceans and is unable to support any life form, is the source of life-giving properties to all who choose to bathe in it. Floating on the sea is not just fun, it relaxes the body and does the skin and the joints a world of good.
The area, like every place in Israel, has quite a history. During the Egyptian conquest it is said that Queen Cleopatra obtained exclusive rights to build cosmetic and pharmaceutical factories in the area. Aristotle wrote extensively about the remarkable waters. In Roman times, the Essenes settled in Qumran on the Dead Sea's northern shore as a place of refuge.
The region found true fame when the "Dead Sea Scrolls" were discovered in the past half century in limestone caves carved out of cliffs along the wadis to the left bank of the Dead Sea. From David (10th c. BCE) to the bar Kochba revolt (135 CE), Jewish fugitives often found shelter in caves in this area. Manuscripts found in eleven caves have become the primary focus of an intense international scholarly debate on the history of Judaism & the origins of Christianity.
If you go to the Dead Sea in Israel, don't forget to bring your swim suit and sunscreen because it is sunny on average 330 days a year. Also, don't forget to bring your Israel SIM card and international cell phone. No contract or monthly fees so how do I buy more airtime?
Your Israel cell phone service is all prepaid so you only buy airtime as you need it. Airtime vouchers are available locally throughout Israel at local convenience stores. Click the 'View Details' link under the included SIM card(s) to learn more about adding airtime.
Why rent or roam when you can own?
In the past your only options were expensive: to pay over $1/minute for a cell phone rental or more expensive: pay international roaming surcharges to your local home wireless provider. With Telestial's Shalom promotion, you can now avoid those exorbitant rental and per minute charges often associated with a cell phone rental.
Here, there and almost everywhere!
Don't forget that the cell phone included with your Shalom promo is capable of working in over 170 countries and can be used with any of our Local SIM cards or Roaming SIM cards!
All Special Promotions are valid until Jul 31, 2010
