Austria SIM Card

A prepaid Austria SIM card with an international cell phone is the most convenient and economical solution for staying in touch while in Austria. All incoming calls while in Austria are FREE, regardless of where they originate. Pay the local rate for local calls and use a cellular phone in Austria like you do at home. And unlike home, your Austria SIM card and cell phone service is prepaid so there is no need for a contract.

Please Note:
Your Austria SIM Card (Mucke) will require a SIM-unlocked GSM 1800 compatible international cell phone. If you do not have your own international cell phone, we have several models available for rental or purchase.

Domestic Calls

Domestic rates are per minute for outgoing calls within Austria from your prepaid Austria SIM card while you are in Austria. All incoming calls, regardless of where they originate are FREE while you are in Austria.

International Calls

Making international calls from your world cell phone has never been easier than with your prepaid Austria SIM card. All rates are per minute for international outgoing calls from an Austria prepaid SIM card. Note that signing up with the Telestial Return Call Service can significantly reduce the cost of international calls.

International text messages cost EUR 0.15 per message.

Roaming Calls (calls placed when traveling outside of the country)

International roaming with your Austria SIM card is not the cheapest alternative for staying in touch while on the road, but it can be convenient for crossing into Switzerland or Germany for a weekend. With international roaming, the benefit is that you don't have to buy a new SIM card and have a new cell phone number for 2 short days in a new country.

There is a one time charge of 7 EUR ($9 USD) to have international roaming activated by Tele.Ring Twist customer service on your Austria SIM card. To activate your Roaming service and inquire about rates, please contact customer service.

GPRS Data Rates (Wireless Internet)

GPRS is currently not available, however you will be able to receive email via your Twist SIM card; Your e-mail address will be 0 (zero) and your Austria cell phone number beginning 650xxxxxxx@telering.at

Additional airtime is available from Telestial (Voucher PIN will be sent via email) and locally in Austria at Tabac shops, convenience stores, TeleRing shops and authorized dealers. To recharge your Austria service, please

Remember: Do NOT purchase another SIM card when your airtime credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher! Your incoming calls are always free even when you run out of airtime.

If you do not recharge your account within 15 months, your mobile phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime credit will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase another Austria SIM card. The 15 month period starts the day you arrive in Austria and turn on your cellular phone.
